The Father.
The Son.
The Holy Spirit.
God
We believe in one true God--the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
God the Father
God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and human history according to the purposes of His grace.
God the Son
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, Mary. Jesus lived a perfect life and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. He was raised from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now serves as our high priest and mediator between God and people. As Paul wrote, Jesus "died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures"(1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit indwells all followers of Jesus and convicts and guides them into truth. He leads, guides, gifts, and empowers all followers of Jesus for godly living and works of service.
Salvation
Salvation--the forgiveness of sins-- is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross made it possible for us to be saved from our sins. Though salvation is a free gift from God, it must be received. According to Scripture one receives this gift of salvation by hearing God's plan of salvation, believing Jesus is God's Son, confessing our need for Jesus' work on the cross, repenting of our sin, being immersed in the waters of baptism and living an obedient life. These are not works. They are a positive acceptance of what God has promised in accordance with His word and His will.
The Scriptures (The Bible)
The Bible was written by men divinely inspired by God and is God’s revelation of Himself to mankind. It is complete and the final authority for all matters of faith. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
Mankind
Man and woman were created by God, in His own image, and is the crowning work of His creation. By their free choice they sinned against God and brought sin into the world. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Every person possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love; but only those who accept Christ's gift of salvation receive the free gift of grace.
The Church Baptism The Lord’s Supper (Communion)
The church is the body and bride of Jesus sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water. Immersion, as taught and practiced in scripture, is part of the normative method in the New Testament for a person to surrender his/her heart to God and become a Christian.
The normative method in the New Testament for a person to surrender his/her heart to God and receive God's free gift of salvation is by hearing God's plan of salvation, believing Jesus is God's Son, confessing our need for Jesus' work on the cross, repenting of his/her sin and being immersed. The apostle Peter preached a sermon on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). The hearers asked what they must do in response, and "Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit'”(Acts 2:38).
The Lord’s Supper is a weekly, intimate observance where followers of Christ choose to celebrate the life and death of the Redeemer and proclaim His death, burial and resurrection until He returns. (Acts 2:42; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
Evangelism/Missions Stewardship Marriage
The duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and every church of the Lord Jesus Christ is "to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that [Jesus] have commanded you"(Matthew 28:18-20).
God is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual; all that we have, and are, we owe to Him. Because of our love and gratitude for our Father we are to give liberally to the work of His kingdom through our local church. Our grateful gifts should not be based in obligation but love.
We believe that God created marriage to be exclusively the union between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy is to occur exclusively within that union.
